Dublin Hotel Deals
Dublin celebrated 1000 years of existence in 1988 and in the 20 years since then it has become one of the most popular cities in Europe. Massive investment in recent years has improved the quality of life of Dubliners and visitors alike. Dublin city centre is now a vibrant entertainment and cultural centre with improved public transportation, increased numbers of taxis and significant improvements in the quality of hotel accommodation.
Dubliners are known for their their unique sense of humour. The famous Molly Malone statue at the bottom of Grafton Street is known as the “Tart with the Cart”, the two bronze ladies resting on a bench in Liffey Street with their shopping are known as the “Hags with the Bags” but the “Floosie in the Jacuzzi” had to make way for a better pedestrian experience in O’Connell Street.
Oscar Wilde once said he could resist anything but temptation. So don’t resist – come to Dublin and be spoiled for choice – shopping in Grafton Street or Henry Street, Music & Craic in Temple Bar, wonderful restaurants right across the city or simply feeding the ducks in Stephens Green.
If it is culture you want, Dublin still has the Book of Kells on show in Trinity College. The famous Guinness Storehouse is well worth a visit. So too is the National Museum of Ireland on the site of the old Collins Barracks. Visit Temple Bar which is packed with restaurants, pubs, entertainment and a good selection of Dublin Hotels nearby. Or take a hop-on / hop-off tour of Dublin visiting the city centre, Christchurch Cathedral, Saint Patricks Cathedral, the Guinness Storehouse and lots more.
Following a major restoration project, the Natural History Museum in Merrion Street re-opened in April 2010. It shows the diverse variety of animal life in Ireland and what makes it unique is that the displays have remained virtually unchanged since the Museum opened its doors in 1857. The museum also features mammals, birds, flora and fauna from other parts of the world and you can find some species exhibited there that are now extinct in Ireland.
